One major difference with store purchased drones versus build your own Drone is parts and reliability. The other reason is use of non proprietary components. If you need to replace a component on your drone, there are many options and sources you can obtain that part. Hobbyists sometimes get a better understanding and appreciation for a product when we learn and build it on their own. A better understanding of high performance drone products leads to a safer flight.
Learn basic soldering techniques.
Our flight boards are already pre soldered which is usually the most difficult part of the build. Basic soldering is needed between the electronic speed controllers to the power distribution board, LED circuits and FPV units. When adding additional options such as LED navigation/directional lights or the video transmitter, additional soldering will be needed. This is a skill that will last life long.
Plan your build mentally steps ahead before you execute them.
